Clean Up Your Windows And Make it FAST Again!
Ok, this seems a bit strange, but here's another post about speeding up and cleaning Windows (XP).
Previously I wrote a little post about some tweaks in Windows XP in a dutch post here , now it's time for a little and short
post with some programs that can help you tweaking your system. ( And this works, I tested it on the only Windows machine left, the machine of my wife).
Clean up the mess before you start...
While there are a lot of programs that can clean up your disk, Ccleaner is definitely the best in town. It is also able to perform some registry cleaning. Downloading this program can be done here
Caching helps
Remember the same things all the time is useless, so that's why there is Cacheman!
Cacheman helps you optimize the memory usage in Windows XP. ( which is serious needed! )

Defrag the virtual memory
There is also a file which takes care of the virtual memory on your machine ( the pagefile ) which can be defragmented.
When using Windows XP for some time, this time never gets defragmented (not even with the built-in defragment tool ).
So for this purpose you can use the tool Pagedefrag
Optimize the boot sequence
Appareantly Microsoft does know that Windows slows down, because they are the one who have created the program "Bootvis".
Bootvis helps your computer with the startup sequence and order and after it's finished, your system boots FasteR!
